Professional
I spend most my work time developing high-volume, data intensive applications for clustered LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP) environments. My expertise includes database optimization, clustering/sharding/high-availability strategies, disaster recovery, data exchange/integration, and data mining techniques. I also have a background in system/network administration.
Personal
I was born in the summer of 1984 to a wonderful family, John & Karen Baker, in Ohio. I was raised and educated mostly in Bolivar, OH. In high school I was active in marching band, science fair, and a few other nerdy endeavors. I attended Hiram College (Class of 2007) for Computer Science. After college I worked for a small Internet Service Provider, but also found myself active in the Obama campaign.
In 2009 I relocated to Seattle, Washington. I currently live with 6 roommates in a cooperative style house in Seattle’s Ravenna neighborhood. We garden, share, and try to live with an emphasis on community and the environment. I try to be involved in progressive causes, enjoy biking & snowboarding, and tinkering-with/fixing things. While I’m not very musically inclined myself, I’m almost always listening to music, and frequent concerts.
